Good local transport links are vital to connect families, to help people go about their everyday lives, and to allow people to get to work and access any services they need.
But sadly, the SNP Government in Edinburgh has not invested enough to create the local transport network that the Borders deserves.
We need to keep aiming high and seeking to make improvements.
Since it reopened, the Borders Railway has been a huge success. We need to build on that success.
By extending the Borders Railway, we will be able to improve transport links, create more jobs, and support more local businesses.
I will keep working hard alongside local campaigners to ensure we see the Borders Railway extended to Hawick, Newcastleton and on to Carlisle.
