Rachael Hamilton MSP hosted the Social Enterprise Awards Scotland in the Scottish Parliament this week.
The annual awards are presented for innovation and success in social enterprise. The winner of Social Enterprise of the Year 2018 was CCI Scotland, for the One to Watch winner, Caledonia Cremation and the Environmental Social Enterprise award went to Point and Sandwick Trust.
Social Enterprise Scotland issued a request for applications earlier in the year, asking Scotland’s various social enterprises to demonstrate their efforts to improving Scotland’s economy and society.
Shona Sinclair, Chair of Social Enterprise Scotland, said:
“Congratulations to all the winners of the Social Enterprise Awards Scotland 2018. A big thanks to everyone who entered the awards this year, reflecting the diverse range of organisations that are helping build a better economy and a fairer Scotland.
“Alongside our new Chief Executive we look forward to the further growth and development of Scotland’s social enterprise movement.”
“Social Enterprise Scotland is The Voice of Social Enterprise – uniting social enterprises and their supporters into a strong campaigning force. We are your gateway to Scotland’s social enterprise community.
“We’re an independent, Scottish, membership-led organisation, built and controlled by social enterprises. We’re the first point of contact for the media and public and promote a positive vision for social enterprise”.
Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire MSP, Rachael Hamilton said:
“The Social Enterprise Awards showcases the best that Scotland has to offer when it comes to improving local economies and benefiting communities.
“I was delighted to host the awards, and it was a real opportunity to see some of the fantastic work that is going on around Scotland.
“I want to wish all social enterprises the very best, and hope to see even more entries next year!”
