Over the last two weeks, an exhibition on the life of Isabel Cowe has taken place at the Ebba Centre in St Abbs to commemorate her life.
Local residents and relations of Isabel have been gathering information to highlight the great work she done throughout her life.
Ms Cowe was born in the village of St Abbs and went onto be awarded the RLNI Gold Brooch and was a prominent campaigner in the fight for Votes for Women.
To help highlight her life, local MSP Rachael Hamilton has lodged a motion at the Scottish Parliament after meeting with representatives of the exhibition.
Rachael Hamilton MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire said ‘It was great to hear about the extraordinary life of Isabel’
‘Some of the actions she undertook 100 years ago have had a direct effect on the lives of all women in Scotland and the UK today!’
‘In this year when we are celebrating the initial extension of the suffrage for women it was important that her life was highlighted in the Scottish Parliament and showcased to locals in St Abbs.’
