Kelso High Schools’ Higher Modern Studies class visited the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 11th January.
Ms James’ class came to the Scottish Parliament to attend General Questions and First Minister’s Questions. After First Minister's Questions students were given a bespoke tour by a member of Mrs Hamilton’s team.
Beforehand students had the opportunity to meet their local MSP and ask her questions. The students also got to see their local MSP in action – questioning the First Minister on the low confidence felt amongst Scottish small businesses.
During the question Rachael Hamilton MSP found an opportunity to welcome the students to the Scottish Parliament.
The Modern Studies class is researching the power of Scottish Parliament committees.
Rachael Hamilton MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire said: "It was fantastic to meet Kelso High school and get to chat with them on a wide range of issues, including their focus on the power of Scottish Parliament committees.
"I really hope Kelso High School enjoyed their visit to the Scottish Parliament. I certainly enjoyed seeing them and they can come again any time. Indeed, any school can come and visit – and of course I am always happy to visit schools.
"In the Year of Young People 2018 it is more important than ever to promote and celebrate young people’s voices in Scottish Politics, the Scottish Borders and Scotland."
