Rachael Hamilton MSP, member for Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire, has taken part in an initiative called ‘Apprentice for the Day’ run by Skills Development Scotland.
The annual campaign was set up to encourage more employers to take on apprentices and for more young people to consider an apprenticeship.
Rachael was an apprentice at local visitor attraction Born in the Borders. Born in the Borders brings together many local products and sells them in their food and drink shop as well as having many other activities such as brewery tours and riverside walks.
Rachael Hamilton MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire said ‘It was great to take part in this initiative to help highlight the role of apprenticeships in our economy. Personally, I would love to see many more businesses offering apprenticeships and young people being encouraged to take them up’
‘I really enjoyed my time seeing what the apprentices do at the much loved Born in the Borders. I had the chance to meet with staff but also serve some ice cream and help out in the shop’
