Scotland Women won at the weekend in a tight match against Ireland in their Six Nations campaign.
The result did not surprise Rachael Hamilton MSP who went along to Kelso Rugby for training and saw the talent Scotland has to pick from.
The MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire who is campaigning for an increased uptake of women playing rugby in the Borders – joined in the fun last Friday.
Rachael Hamilton MSP will continue to promote Women’s Rugby in the Scottish Borders and explore ways to address the culture change required for it to attract more women and girls.
Rachael Hamilton MSP said: "Rugby has a special place in the Borders and in my heart. We have a strong history of Scottish Borders success stories like Stuart Hogg, Greig Laidlaw, Doddie Weir, John Jeffrey, Gary Armstrong and Gregor Townsend coaching a team to victory over England in the Calcutta Cup.
"I want that success to be equally known and shared in Women’s Rugby. I want the Scottish Borders to be famous for the quality of players and coaches we produce for both the men and the women’s game.
"I will continue to campaign for more women and girls to take up the game and continue to tackle barriers that stop them from participating. And many thanks for Kelso Women's Rugby for letting me join them in their training session."
