It was fantastic to welcome students from Selkirk High School to the Scottish Parliament alongside Na h-Eileanan an Iar MSP, Alasdair Allan, a former pupil of Selkirk High School.
The students had a tour of the Parliament, and then a cross party Q&A session with Alasdair and myself where they were able to quiz us on our roles as MSPs.
Following this, the students had front row seats in the chamber gallery to watch Humza Yousaf’s final First Minister’s Questions
It’s crucial that younger generations understand the importance of democracy and why every vote matters, and it was great to see the students engaging with the Parliamentary process.
If there are any other schools in the Borders that would like to organise a visit to the Scottish Parliament, please get in touch with my office.
