The SNP Government cut funding to rural areas by nearly £100 million in the latest Scottish Budget, which was announced on Tuesday.
Analysis of the budget shows that the total Rural Affairs, Land Reform & Islands budget will be cut by £98.3 million in real terms between 2023-2024 and 2024-25.
As part of the budget, pillar 1 payments for farmers will be cut by £10.3 million in cash terms.
This horrendous cut to funding for rural communities will put jobs at risk in the Borders.
Cutting money for farmers is a shocking decision by the SNP that reveals how little they focus on what really matters to people in rural areas.”
