Farmers, crofters and those across our agricultural sector – including those I represent in the Borders – are facing an increased risk of theft.
In particular, all-terrain vehicles and quad bikes are being stolen as rural communities continue to grapple with rising costs and the effects of the pandemic.
I am proud to be bringing forward proposals for a Rural Theft Bill to tackle this crime.
I hope SNP-Green ministers – as well as MSPs in other opposition parties – will be quick to show their support for this common sense bill to ensure that we can crack down on rural crime and make it far easier for stolen items to be returned to their owners.
