New statistics released last week revealed the worst A&E waiting times at the Borders General Hospital in more than 17 years.
The figures published by Public Health Scotland revealed that just 58.7 per cent of patients at NHS Borders were seen within the four hour target time in November 2024.
That is the worst monthly performance in NHS Borders since 2007.
In response, I have written to SNP health secretary Neil Gray seeking action.
These shocking statistics confirm what people across the Borders know - that NHS waiting lists are way too high and need to be brought down."It is deeply concerning that so many people are waiting so long for emergency treatment.
The SNP health secretary seems to have no answers on how to fix our NHS.
We have set out proposals to reduce bureaucracy, cut the amount of paperwork that frontline staff need to complete, and bring down the number of middle-managers, so that more funding could be invested in the frontline.
Neil Gray must visit the Borders to see these issues first-hand and tell local people what he's going to do to sort this out immediately.
